The village was mentioned already in 1303 as a possession of the lords from Perstejn. Nowadays it is commonly known for the cheese manufacture located here. The Gothic fortress called “Stary hrad” is one of the main architectural monuments here. The fortress was lately rebuilt into managers’ houses and a brewery. There is a church of St. Michael from 1303, the dominant of the town, originally Gothic but lately renewed into the Renaissance and the Baroque style. At the square you can see a Baroque fountain from 17th century and a Marian column from 1715. Or you may visit during the winter one of close ski centre here.
